The Opportunity
As a Senior Production Technician, you will join our Production team in Radford, VA and will be responsible for performing calculations according to Master Batch Records as well as identifying hazards of chemicals. The Senior Production Technician reports to the Production Lab Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Review production schedule to determine what products need to be made for the day
Retrieve appropriate batch record and raw materials for the batching of solutions
Work with other technicians to make solutions
Work on more than one Master Batch Record at a time
Identify hazards of chemicals as well as expired chemicals
Provide Quality Control with component samples
Assess the need for heat inactivated serum for solutions
Help ensure chemicals are appropriately stocked for production needs
Perform necessary serum heat inactivations
Perform calculations according to Master Batch Records (MBRs)
Read and understand Master Batch Records as well as Standard Operating Procedures
Communicate closely with other departments such as Label Control, Biological Materials Production, Research and Development, Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Stock lab consumable supplies
Initiate and follow through with Non-conformance documents and defect notes
Qualifications and Experience
Associate degree in a science field (Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline) required.
Mathematics proficiency, including the ability to perform batch order calculations and apply basic algebra in daily production activities.
Hands-on laboratory experience, specifically bench work and routine use of pipettes (pipette competency test required).
Experience working in a regulated industry such as medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other environments with strict compliance standards.
GMP or GLP experience is required; strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and documentation accuracy.
Background in laboratory production, manufacturing, or medical device assembly is highly preferred.
Ability to follow SOPs, batch records, and quality procedures with strict attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional production teams.
Proactive approach, showing initiative to complete tasks and drive continuous improvement.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical production activities as needed.
Location, Environment, and Work Policy
TechLab maintains a climate-controlled environment for the job of Senior Production Technician. A typical workweek is Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30 or 8:30 to 5:00. Overtime is occasionally necessary with or without advance notice.
