We are seeking an experienced professional to support diagnostic and repair of manufactoring, laboratory, and production related equipment in our Virginia locations.

The Opportunity
The job of the Equipment Maintenance Technician is to diagnose and repair a variety of manufacturing, laboratory, and production related equipment. This position is considered Multi-Craft and requires work with different assemblies and documentation of maintenance activities. The Equipment Maintenance Technician will work primarily at the Radford, VA location, but will also provide support to the Blacksburg and Dublin, VA locations. This position will report directly to the Equipment Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required
Check and replace liquid nitrogen tanks, when necessary.
Ensure equipment is calibrated as detailed in SOPs/ Ensure calibration_ Maintenance results and completion of tasks are documented on TLFs
Ensure equipment that does not meet criteria is repaired or removed from service
Monitor equipment for building and manufacturing, on call for Temp Alarm
Troubleshoot and repair as needed_ Perform wiring and wiring repair for equipment and facility, as needed_ working with low voltage AC and DC_ Maintain production equipment performance. Perform lockout/tagout procedures as required. Work with pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical assemblies_ In-house machining work
Report equipment maintenance information to Management/Perform preventative, daily maintenance and repairs
Observe functionality of all equipment_ Strive to ensure high production efficiency rates.
Assist in the revalidation, operation and design of manufacturing equipment_ Perform basic mathematical skills
Source vendors, order necessary spare parts, and assist in tracking inventory of spare parts_ Submit purchase orders.
Recommend proposed changes as DCRs
Immediately Report Nonconformity to Manager/QA_ Perform NCR investigations
Occasional repair and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley PLC and FANUC Robotics Systems_ Assist with Maintaining PLC Systems and Frequency Drives, Develop and Edit PLC programming as directed. repair and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley PLC and FANUC Robotic Systems
Interact with Product Development and R&D to design and transition to manufacturing as needed
Job Context
TechLab maintains a climate-controlled environment for the job of Equipment Maintenance Technician. The Equipment Maintenance Technician can expect to work, occasionally, in cold or hot weather. An employee in this position must be able to lift up to 55lbs, with or without assistance. A typical workday is Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30 or 8:30 to 5:00. Overtime is occasionally necessary with or without advance notice.
Qualifications and Experience
Associate's degree in related field such as Instrumentation & Control Technology/Engineering, Equipment Maintenance or High School Diploma or equivalent + 3 years of relevant experience.
Able to be on an on-call rotation after-hours.
Experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley preferred), automation systems, and robotics troubleshooting.
Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and instrumentation troubleshooting skills.
Proficiency with intermediate mathematics and technical measurements.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Ability to lift up to 55lbs and work in various manufacturing environments.
Certification in Control Systems Technician, Automation Professional, Instrumentation Engineer is preferred.
