Your Role: Supporting scientific research with Precision and Care
As a Research Scientist you will collaborate with other laboratory personnel to aid in experiments and research. The Research Scientist performs laboratory activities, submits technical documentation and will interface across departments, all of which contributes to the development of new processes and products. The Research Scientist shows leadership and expertise in multiple areas of research and development.
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide leadership on priority projects based on the design inputs and project timelines.
- Perform, troubleshoot and oversee a variety of laboratory activities.
- Performance research and development for process and product development including feasibility, scale and transfer.
- Lead validation and verification studies in the laboratory.
- Analyze data with software including Microsoft Excel, JMP statistical analysis or similar software.
- Maintain clean and safe workspace.
- Follow all safety procedures including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of potentially hazardous materials.
- Draft and submit technical documents including production documents and validation protocols.
- Follow the technical documents including production documents and validation protocols.
- Accurately document all laboratory experiments and procedures in scientific notebook.
- Write reports of scientific data.
- Collaborate with other personnel and departments in a professional manner.
- Train, mentor and evaluate newer laboratory personnel when needed.
- Report deviations and errors where appropriate.
- Draft manuscripts, posters, or other scientific publications.
- Attend and present research at scientific meetings, conferences or workshops.
- Oversee areas of general laboratory maintenance.
Aid in areas outside the laboratory including risk analysis, vendor sourcing, maintaining inventory of scientific notebooks.

Work Environment & Flexibility
This is a full-time onsite role based out of Poway, CA. When onsite a climate-controlled office is maintained. While the standard workweek is Monday–Friday, occasional overtime may be required. Travel between SSI Diagnostica Group offices or to external partners may occur.
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. in life science or equivalent + 7 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. in life science or equivalent + 10 years of relevant experience
- M.A. or M.S. in life sciences or equivalent + 5 years of relevant experience
- PhD. in life science or equivalent + 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong experience with lateral flow assay development
- Experience with FDA/IVDR/WHO technical dossier preparation
- Experience leading small teams or acting as a team lead is preferred
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to draft documents and communicate ideas clearly in emails, documents, and team discussions.
- Strong Chinese communication skills, both written and verbal.
